House #17: Exterior Rehab

April 9, 2010 · 2 comments

In my last post about The Escher House rehab, I promised pictures…

While I don’t have a whole lot of pictures just yet, I wanted to post a BEFORE and (Almost) AFTER picture of the front exterior of the house.

We decided early on to remove all the cedar siding from the front of the house — it made the house look old and out-of-date — and my wife racked her brain for days trying to figure out what to replace it with to make it look new, attractive and contemporary. Ultimately, she decided on a combination of Hardiplank and cedar shake, with some great color choices.

While this isn’t by any means a final exterior picture, here is a composite of the before and the in-progress exterior renovation:

  1. Bo says:

Great choice! The siding/cedar shake goes very well with the stacked stone and provides a much needed update. Kudos!

  2. Yeah great choice. Like how you picked up the color with the front door.
