Great job! But I am kind of missing the authentic part of these historical homes. I know this house, I’m a little envious that I couldn’t have worked on it:) I LOVE historical homes. The architecture, the character. The heart and soul.
Did you see the interior of the house before we purchased it? It really didn’t have that typical Tosa charm you would have expected from seeing the exterior. So, I personally think we did the house a favor… 😉

I hope I didn’t come across as not liking the final project, because that is not the case. It was just my artist/designer side coming out:) That’s all. You guys are doing an amazing job revitalizing these historical homes, that otherwise may have been ignored or demo’d. So thank you for that!
I didn’t take it that way at all. In fact, that was actually a concern of our during rehab, that buyers wouldn’t find that the house was authentic enough to the area. So far, the only feedback we’ve gotten is that buyers don’t like that price point (we’re right at $400K)… 🙂
What kind of profit are you looking to make from this home? When you do homes outside of Macomb county do you stay (live) in those outside areas while the construction is being done?
We don’t have final numbers for this project yet, but we should do well on this one. This property isn’t in Macomb County (not even in Michigan). The project is in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Great job, J! We are from Tosa, and did a total renovation/addition to our 1925 brick cape cod on Stickney Ave back in 2006. It sold in 2011 with multiple offers when we moved to Texas. I would love to know the location of this home and take a look at the listing. I hope to one day rehab more of the neighboring historic homes in Tosa – love our town! We know it well.

This one took about 4 months…the contractors we used on this one kept getting pulled onto other jobs of ours, so that number is a bit inflated…
